KING JAMES VERSION

22. So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
23. And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
25. And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
26. And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

MODERN ENGLISH

22. Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.
23. When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah).
24. So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?"
25. Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the Lord made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them.
26. He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you."

22. Moïse fit partir Israël de la mer Rouge. Ils prirent la direction du désert de Schur; et, après trois journées de marche dans le désert, ils ne trouvèrent point d'eau.
23. Ils arrivèrent à Mara; mais ils ne purent pas boire l'eau de Mara parce qu'elle était amère. C'est pourquoi ce lieu fut appelé Mara.
24. Le peuple murmura contre Moïse, en disant: Que boirons-nous?
25. Moïse cria à l'Éternel; et l'Éternel lui indiqua un bois, qu'il jeta dans l'eau. Et l'eau devint douce. Ce fut là que l'Éternel donna au peuple des lois et des ordonnances, et ce fut là qu'il le mit à l'épreuve.
26. Il dit: Si tu écoutes attentivement la voix de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, si tu fais ce qui est droit à ses yeux, si tu prêtes l'oreille à ses commandements, et si tu observes toutes ses lois, je ne te frapperai d'aucune des maladies dont j'ai frappé les Égyptiens; car je suis l'Éternel, qui te guérit.

22. Mose ließ die Kinder Israel ziehen vom Schilfmeer hinaus zur Wüste Sur. Und sie wanderten drei Tage in der Wüste, daß sie kein Wasser fanden.
23. Da kamen sie gen Mara; aber sie konnten das Wasser nicht trinken, denn es war sehr bitter. Daher hieß man den Ort Mara.
24. Da murrte das Volk wider Mose und sprach: Was sollen wir trinken?
25. Er schrie zu dem Herrn, und der Herr wies ihm einen Baum; den tat er ins Wasser, da ward es süß. Daselbst stellte er ihnen ein Gesetz und ein Recht und versuchte sie
26. und sprach: Wirst du der Stimme des Herrn, deines Gottes, gehorchen und tun, was recht ist vor ihm, und zu Ohren fassen seine Gebote und halten alle seine Gesetze, so will ich der Krankheiten keine auf dich legen, die ich auf Ägypten gelegt habe; denn ich bin der Herr, dein Arzt.

22. E hizo Moisés que partiese Israel del mar Bermejo, y salieron al desierto de Shur; y anduvieron tres días por el desierto sin hallar agua.
23. Y llegaron á Mara, y no pudieron beber las aguas de Mara, porque eran amargas; por eso le pusieron el nombre de Mara.
24. Entonces el pueblo murmuró contra Moisés, y dijo: Qué hemos de beber?
25. Y Moisés clamó á Jehová; y Jehová le mostró un árbol, el cual metídolo que hubo dentro de las aguas, las aguas se endulzaron. Allí les dió estatutos y ordenanzas, y allí los probó;
26. Y dijo: Si oyeres atentamente la voz de Jehová tu Dios, é hicieres lo recto delante de sus ojos, y dieres oído á sus mandamientos, y guardares todos sus estatutos, ninguna enfermedad de las que envié á los Egipcios te enviaré á ti; porque yo soy Jehová tu Sanador.
